Anyone know if keeping a squirrel as a pet is legal? If it is okay, does anyone know where I could find a place that sells them? Thanks.

LOL

We had a family of squirrels in our house once. We didn't want to kill them all, so we set live traps all over. We got them all, I kept a baby for about a day before I set him free. Cutest thing ever, really really really soft too. He was just used to living in the wild. I don't know if you can buy them though, as long as they never really experience living in the wild they'd probly be OK as pets...

I would think they woudlnt be illegal. In High School, my friends neigbors had one. They adopted theres from a tree out back. I would think there is someone out there that would sell a baby squirell. But hey, Im no attorny, so I dont know for sure. Its different all over, for instance, ferrets. They are legal in some areas, and others they are illegal.

I don't think there illegal here (Ontario) but just odd. If you have an animal shelter near you, that would be my best guess to find one.

I've searched all over the net, and it seems like no exotic pet sites have anything about squirrels. Thanks for the animal shelter idea. I also thought about setting up a live trap around here because most of the squirrels see humans nonstop, so I imagined they might be somewhat tame. But, thanks.

My step-mother had one when she was a kid, and she really seemed to like it. Mostly I just think it would be fun.

Yes, everybody does do something illegal once in awhile...however, if I get caught doing one of those things within the next year I'll be violating my probation (for another of those things we all do). So, I need to make sure it's legal too.

Probation?

Squirrels are really really soft too. You can cuddle up with it at night. Just make sure it doesn't have rabies.

Ya, that would be something you wouldn't want.

rabbits reign supreme

Dude, forget about squirrels. It's all about lil fluffy bunny rabbits. Nothing beats them out in overall cuteness. Especially when they're standing on their hind legs and clean themselves.... lol

I had a rabbit named Bunny. It had an attitude problem. If you did anything it didn't like, say, move it to a different room, he'd just stand there growling and thumping and pooping. Stupid rabbit.

Friend of mine has (had?) a rat named Charlie. That thing had it good....it was constantly being given marijuana fumes, which he freely sniffed, beer in his water bottle, and he got to walk all over 4 different strippers boobs.
