got k&n cold air intake: having problems

Hey i just got the kn cold air intake for my 96 eclipse gst i had no problems with lag or anything when i took off the stock intake before i put it on and now that it is installed it does somewierd thing(acts like it is running out of gas sputters then kicks back in and takes off, kinda... really hard to explain.) I have taken all the intake piping off and checked the seals on all the vac lines coming out of the intake tubing and re-sealed them also i have searched for the loctaion of the stock bov on this car and i could not find a thread so if anyone knows where it is let me know. Thanks for any advice in advance and i look forward to any suggestions.

change your spark plugs.

mine did that when i went k&n/injen and i swapped in some ngk bpr7e and it was back to normal. the plugs that were in there were bosch platinum +4.

The BOV is right above the intake pipe mounted on the upper intercooler piping.

Is there anyway to make the sound louder or quieter with the stock bov?

i got a 98 gst. the ngk plugs are bpr7es. the general consensus is bpr6es or bpr7es for turbo dsms.

when i got the car, it already had the platinum +4s. then i put in the injen and k&n fipk (cold air intakes don't exist for turbo cars), and it did exactly what you said. once i switched to bpr7es ngk plugs, the problem went away. i actually got a c.e.l. with the +4s.

my advice, eat the $20 you spent on +4s and get you the ngks.

Bigger filter will let more sound out. Other than that, no, nothing will unless you want your car to run badly.
