Question Reliability of IS300

How reliable are IS300s? Especially in winter months as is I live in New York. I used to see IS300s all the time around me a couple of years ago but now it's a rare occurence to see one. Is this because the people are getting rid of them due to mechanical problems or has their loan run out? Are there any major recalls on mechanical and or electrical equipment for the IS300? I would like to know before I drop 30 grand on an IS300.
Thanks,
Dave

Re: Reliability of IS300

Lexus is one of the most reliable cars on the road, if not the most. There are a few updates and service bullitins, but nothing major, and a lot are on the 2001's and was corrected after that. The car sucks to drive on ice and snow, maybe the owners realized that and either A) got winter cars, or B) bought subarus

Re: Reliability of IS300

I spent quite a bit of time on www.is300.net, and was only able to uncover a couple of issues - one with a cover on the exhaust system that cracks and comes loose (covered under recall), and another regarding the traction control system (again, covered under warranty). These were all on 2001 models.

I bought a 2001 IS300 used with 38k miles, and so far I am very pleased. I have not yet driven on snow, but I am planning on investing in a set of Blizzaks for the winter!
