side taillights...?

this is sort of a n00b question...

but i was trying to take off the 2 side taillights on my s14 and after unscrewing the 4 nuts in the trunk compartment, i can't get the damn things off!

i need to know if i have to just keep trying and pry them off, or am i missing something here?! just making sure so i don't destroy anything...
