Careful when changing to manual.
I made a baaaaaad miscalculation.
The drivers side driveshaft which I had written that you need to use interior shaft from NX2000 and exterior from the G20 is ok BUT you must have this machined custom with an added 3/4 of an inch. The reason is that the NX2000 is not as wide as the G20. With the shaft to short you'll drive around but if you turn sharp and hit a bump at the same time it'll come apart at the universal joint and probably roast your tranny. This small miscalcualtion has costed me 2 trannys and 4 cv joints. I feel like an ass now, a poor ass too at that Oh well lesson learned ![]() Just thought I'd let you know in case someone else dares this project

Can't you just switch a manual tranny straight from a manual g20 or primera?

Which halfshaft (not CV joints) did you use? NX or G20? I'd guess you used the NX halfshaft and not the G20 one. I'll bet the G20 one is longer.

But for opinions here, is this something that you need to do yourself? Or trust a mechanic to doing this. Would an infiniti/nissan guy know exacatly what to do? Or would you hafta supervise...etc... Hows it handle? Do you notice a diff with the LSD? I bet its sweeeeet

First of all NO DON"T GO TO NISSAN/INFINITI!
When I was researching this project they told me it was impossible and would never work. You could trust a good mechanic with this work but make sure you have all your parts. I did it myself with the help of someone who had a little more experience and it originally cost me 1200$ in parts + 3days of my time. I did a little write up on this a while back, cut it short because of the problems I was having but thats worked out now. It really is a straightforward conversion. ...and yes VLSD is great especially cuz its winter now and 2 wheels gripping is always better than one. Also I noticed many dramatic differences with the car since its manual, I found I could really take advantage of the handling compared to auto which was too sluggish to show you what the car could really do.

Hmm, I switched to LSD and never had this problem. Matter of fact, right now my drivers side axle is an un modified Auto G20 axle. Straight up, no changes. Works great. I've had both a NX and a SER tranny in there. Never had an axle or joint problem that wasn't the direct result of something stupid I did.

I know for a fact that the SER and NX tranny are exactly the same. Both are sitting in my garage right now. This is a fact, not a guess, I have rebuilt over a dozen of them now.
Did you watch the videos? Lts of turning and braking in there. No axle breakage.
