Arrow 17's on a stock civic???

My civic is my daily driver, if I put 17's on my car will I lose much / any miles to the gallon? Do I have to change anything else to put bigger rims on my car? Is there anything I should know before upgrading?

Re: 17's on a stock civic???

well most 17s are heavy if you can get some nice light ones you will have no problems really your gearing will be a bit taller so keep that in mind. Ride will be a little rougher to due lack of tire to soak it up. IMO 16s are better for proformance then 17s *and i think functiol looks sweet so also better looking too*
I my self run 15s

Re: 17's on a stock civic???

i think 15s look too small so 16s are a good comprimise.

im not sure if they ship to US but www.rarerims.co.uk do mugen replicas which are very lightweight and still very strong at low prices - i know thats where i'll be getting my alloys from!

Re: 17's on a stock civic???

well if u feel like you need very good handling (eg racing/track days?) get coilovers. i would if i could afford them (around £300/$500 in UK)

JDM ones are quality (Spoon etc.) but are a bit pricey...

Re: 17's on a stock civic???

lol ok - some (-35mm?) springs will probably be best then - cheaper and a smoother ride - although you realise that springs will worsen the standard ride quality?

Re: 17's on a stock civic???

What I am looking for is a 2inch drop (will that work OK with 17's?) and a smooth ride all around. What would be the best equipment to do this?

Re: 17's on a stock civic???

the other choice is to ditch the idea of springs and just stay with smaller alloys - maybe go an inch bigger than you have already but with low profile tyres

Re: 17's on a stock civic???

yeh a 2 inch drop with 17s should be fine!

remember its more likely to rub without springs cos they bounce more... lowered springs are stiffer and so wont bounce as much.

- this is of course as long as thy arent stupidly low... 2inch should be fine though but could be a harsh ride for a daily driver unless you dont mind too much...

Re: 17's on a stock civic???

So it sounds like I dont need coilovers, I can just buy springs. What about shocks and struts?
