Lightbulb 2001 4runner Back-light in dash

Please someone with a 2001 4runner. If you would look at your rear-defrost button and the extra power button above the stereo and see if they illuminate at night when your lights are on. I've had a couple different 4runners and I just took it to the shop because I thought the light went out. they said it doesn't have illuminating light behind it. I have to turn on my dome light at night just to get the defrost on. I live in Alaska and i use it all the time!! i can't believe I'm imagining this after driving this particular car for almost 3 years.

I have a 2001 SR5 and those two switches are definitely illuminated. If it was a Toyota dealership that mis-advised you, I'm not surprised. They can rarely answer any questions about my 4Runner. Good luck.

I have the same problem with my '00. I also have a problem with the backlight on the fan control kicking in and out. Can anyone tell me how to change these out? Thanks in advance.

If you still read the forum and get this message, can you tell me how to replace them. I'm having the same problem on my 2000, also lights are out in the window controls on door panels. Thanks.
