2001 4Runner - Brake warning lights on

I was driving to work the other day and went over some railroad tracks that always give my a car a good shaking. After I passed the tracks, I had 4 warning lights come on and they are still on today. The 'brake','VSC Off', 'VSC TRAC' and 'ABS' warning lights are the ones that are on. Took it to the dealership and they said that my car will not talk to their diagnostic machine. They wanted more money to diagnose the issue but couldn't guarentee they would figure it out. If they couldn't figure it out, they were going to put in a new computer chip for about $1,000. I didn't choose this option. It's been 3 weeks since then and the lights are still on and the car seems to be braking fine. I was thinking about taking it to another mechanic but if my car won't talk to Toyota's diagnostic tool, I'm wondering if anyone else can figure it out. Any suggestions on getting this fixed or what the problem might be???

Pull the ECU fuse and replace it. Maybe you had an intermittent connection problem that won't reoccurr.

There are two EDU fuses. Do you know which one I should replace? One is the ECU-B and the other is ECU-IG or ECU-IN (can't recall which one)?

The one in the fuse box next to the battery. I just meant to pull the fuse and put it back.

Brian, I looked at the fuse box next to the battery and I didn't see anything labeled as 'ECU'. Any ideas? Thanks for your help

Sorry, I was just being descriptive. The fuse is a 20A labeled EFI.

Brian, I removed the fuse and replaced it and nothing changed. I did this while the car was not running. Any other ideas? Should I do it while the car is running?

No, that's not necessary. I would try taking it to a mechanic with a normal OBDII scanner or TrakAuto and see if they get a reading from the ECU. If not, check all the connections directly on the ECU - unplug them and reattach them. Maybe you just jarred a connection loose.
