Tried and Failed thus far

I asked my local Ford Dealership about this one - they said to use the key to turn the lock on and off 5 to 8 times, then press and hold the fob button down. I tried it every which way since Kansas and I can't get it to work. I used to have a Chilton manual, but I can't seem to find it. My local dealership checked my alternator, and when I got it back, no keyless entry anymore. They said it would take another hour to fix it...? If it takes that long, can we even do it ourselves as they described? It seems like it would only take seconds!

Re: Reprogramming Keyless Entry

Just found this on a website - I'm going to try it in a few minutes! Here it is:

"Turn the key from off to accessory position about 5 times in rapid succession less than 10 seconds total time and end in accessory position You will hear the locks cycle, then hit the lock and unlock buttons on the key fob. It will set the remote. If you have more than one remote, make sure to do them at the same time."

Re: Reprogramming Keyless Entry

No luck. I tried it - my locks seem to cycle after about two turns. I tried turning five, two, eight. I tried pressing both the lock and unlock at the same time, and then I tried them one after another. How come there aren't concrete instructions on how to do this? What is the "accessory position" of the lock?

Good luck.

Re: Reprogramming Keyless Entry

Accesory position is where the key is if you want to turn on radio without starting car and no dashlights are on. I believe on 91-01 that's towards the driver when you put the key in. And on 02-04 it's the first forward postion when you put key into ignition
