Talking Nissan R390 GT1 - Finished!!!

Here's another one finished, another from Le Mans 1998, the Nissan R390 GT1. These are just a couple of pics I took tonight as I finished it, but I will take some more and post them to Jay for the gallery when the snow has gone outside.
The original kit is the same as Warrens' in the gallery but with a Rennaissance transkit which is basically a one piece body molded in resin, some photo-etch and decals. The decals were not so much of a job as I thought they'd be, but getting some of the parts to fit the body, namely the windows and lights was a bit tricky (Tamiya it is not!!!).
Overall though, the finished kit looks pretty good to me (just don't look too close in some places!).

On with the Porsche now.

Steve

Looks fantastic Steve!
You have been very quiet, I pictured you working away beaverishly!

What's great about this kit is I, like many others, have never seen this car modelled!!!
I look forward to seeing it in the flesh (Resin shoudl that be?)

I'll pop over this weekend if you are about, as I am off to Oz as of next weekend!
I'll let you know about LeMans for this year!

I see it has a totally different arse end on it. The Tamiya one is different.

I have the kit as well. Just need some time.

What colours did you use to paint the body?

Thumbs up

Thanks for the replies guys, I'm glad you like it.

Fizzychops, do you have the transkit with the different body, or just the standard Tamiya kit?

The transkit says that you only need two colours to paint the body, Chrysler PP2 is the pale blue at the front and RAL5005 Signal blue is the darker colour and the back. These are both automotive colour codes that I got mixed specially by a paint shop. Hope this helps.

Steve

yes Steve I do have the full body Resin Renaissance transkit for the Tamiya kit.

I was going to paint the front half a mixture of Testors White with a drop of blue and then spray the back half Testors dark blue. not sure if this colour will be too dark.
I would go to an auto shop but it's to expensive just for a small car kit!!

Was there any problem or do you have any hints for masking for the dark area at the rear?

Primera man, it is a longer tail version of the original car that appeared at Lemans in 1997.
