Everytime I go to open msconfig in the run command it opens and immediately closes. Any help is appreciated.

I also searched google but found nothing but a bunch of giberish that didn't help me.

Re: msconfig problem

What version of Windows do you have? It's probably a borked msconfig utility. Go to Microsoft's website, download the msconfig utility for your version of Windows from their site, and overwrite your current one with the new one. That should fix it.

Re: msconfig problem

I would say download the latest service packs to see if that fixes it. It could also be a virus in that case either get a good virus scanner or download hijack this.

Re: msconfig problem

Yeah, Microsoft likes to hide msconfig from end-user download. Took me forever and a half to locate it for Windows 2000 since msconfig never came with Win2k.

I'd think they have a version for download for XP if it's shot, but I dunno. Then again, XP's a bit different. My roommate managed to corrupt his defrag utility for instance and it's part of the Computer Management utility - can't really download the defrag utility seperatly. I would email them (if THAT'S even possible) and see if they have any suggestions.

Re: msconfig problem

Now I know this might seem pretty simplistic, but do you have a pop-up blocker? because i know that I have accidently added my boddy list, my away messages, and my own website on accident, and maybe you could have accidently added your msconfig
