Neuspeed Race and KYB AGX: good combo??

Hey. i have a full set of Neuspeed race springs. It's supposed to give a 2" drop in the front and 1.5" drop in the rear. Will a set of KYB AGX shocks be safe on these springs. I have a 97 LS integra. I will be putting the AGX setting on the softest setting, i think it is setting 1. These adjustable shocks are the only one within my price range and i want to know if this is a good setup before i buy the shocks. i dont want to be blowing out the shocks.

I'd be kinda weary of those shocks with those springs. The Neuspeed race springs are rather stiff springs in comparison to say Eibach Prokit, or Neuspeed Sports. The spring rates of the Neuspeed Race is: Neuspeed Race - 485F/395R To give you an idea, that's about as stiff as most entry level true ccoilover set up spring rates. They WILL bounce quite harsh I'm pretty sure of, and they mich make your back feel sore after a while. Yes the AGX's have adjustable dampening control, but 5 levels of it I don't think will do so much for those particular springs. I'd suggest looking into some Koni Yellows if I were you. KYB's aren't by any means bad, but I dunno how well they would handle a very stiff lowering spring.

All I gotta say is, you get what you pay for. Always remember that, it's the most true with suspension stuff as well as engine. My Teins I have, I saved up for them for a LONG time, but I'm so glad I did. Didn't waste money on inferior, cheaper and more "trendy" systems like POS sleeve coilovers, and some shocks to go with them.

But in your case, I can't tell you for sure a yer or no to your question. I can tell you that they WILL wear out faster than normal since they aren't designed to be used with way stiff lowering springs. Also I'm unsure if them blowing out because being used with too stiff of a spring will cause the warranty to be void. Might want to look into that. I know it is void on the KYB's if they are lowered below a certain amount. The Koni's are more agressively valved inside them, which means they will support much stiffer springs without worry of blowing them out. Also they are re-valveable if one were to blow out on you, meaning you can send it in, have it rebuilt, and pay MUCh less than you would having to buy a whole brand new shock unit. KYB's as far as I know are not re-buildable.

Unless I have been out of the scene for a while last time I talked with Neuspeed those rates were 200/250.

I think it's been a while...

Remember, these are the Neuspeed RACE, not the Sports. Race will of course be MUCH stiffer than the Sports which have a pretty typical spring rate of a mid-line lowering spring. These are the 6th gen Civic rates I'm giving info on.

If we're talking RSX like his name suggests, then those rates will be WAY stiffer, as my '04 Tein catalog here lists their S.Tech springs at rates of 307F/492R and I KNOW the Neuspeed race would be stiffer than S.Techs
