Angry transmission slip/ odometer clicking

anyone else have problems with their transmission? I have a 1996 dodge dakota 4x4 with a 3.18 v8 in it and when i go to start it up in the morning and try to put it into reverse, it feels like it goes in but when you take your foot off the brake the truck doesnt move and then i try to give it a little gas and then it clunks in really hard. Does anyone else have this problem? What did you do? Does this mean i need a new transmission? Also i have a problem with my odometer. When the truck starts to move, something starts to click and when you stop the clicking stops. And when you start to move faster the clicking goes faster? Does anyone one know how to fix that problem?
