What brand of spark plugs should I run??

I have a 99 silverado 5.3L and I've been thinking about changing out the plugs in my truck. I have been shopping around for the absolute best spark plug. Ive found certain plugs like Bosch quad-fire, zex performance plugs, or the NGK plugs. I was wondering what everyone else is using? What does everyone recomend? I need some good performance plugs.

I have the Same truck, I just replaced mine last month with the Bosch Platinum +2 plugs, Truck runs sweet, very smooth, they are a lil more expensive but I am Pleased with the results.

Re: What brand of spark plugs should I run??

I used the Bosch Platnums, They worked good for about 100 miles and I noticed a miss and some smoke. I pulled the plugs and discovered one of them had dropped its electrode..Thanks Bosch! Got a nice hole in the piston.....AC delco is all I use now.

Re: What brand of spark plugs should I run??

9 out of 10 times switching to non GM A/C Delco plugs cause drivabilty problems. I have see it to many times and would never run anything but Delco plugs in my truck.
We would see so many do it your selfers switched plugs and then the first realy cold day the truck will not start. Why because the aftermarket sparkplugs where not designed for that engine but was designed for a bunch of different engines and happens to fit a lot of different ones. Delco built the plugs for that GM engine . Who knows better then the builders what it should have

Re: What brand of spark plugs should I run??

If you are going to change plugs , DO NOT IGNORE THE WIRES. I did my plugs at 85500 km's and the wires looked fine and the truck ran great afterwards too. Long story short, wires got damaged when i changed the plugs and about 2 months later it started to run rough. I took about 2 months to find out that it was bad boots on the plug wires and it was causing carbon arcing across the porcelin on the plugs. No codes were thrown either this entire time. Ended up having to replace my plugs and wires. GM HAS ALSO CHANGED THE PLUGS THEY USE FROM FACTORY. MY 2000 SILVERADO CAME FROM FACTORY WITH DOUBLE PLATNIUM GAPPED AT .60. THEY NO LONGER USE THESE PLUGS (OBVOIOUSLY FOR A REASON) AND THEY NOW USE THE IRIDIUM PLUGS FROM FACTORY WITH A .40 GAP , NOT THE OLD .60 GAP. If you do use plugs other than AC's i suggest not going with the factory recommended .60 gap. Even the GM tech that worked on my truck said he does not use a .60 gap even if it calls for it.
