Angry Jetta 1.8T Wolfsburgh Check Engine and more flaws

Hello,

I bought Jetta 1.8T Wolfsburgh 2001, brand new from dealer. This car is an almost total deception in its reliability, motor and accessory aspects.

Every fall to spring season, when cold and humid, motor stalls, kicks and highly consumes gas. Check engine light is On most and all the time. Dealer changed valves, coils, catalyst, computer, rings... and I still get the check engines light. Garanty is over, I have check Engine on I'am afraid of my next bill!

Dealer says it's my driving style and doesn't recognize the obvious problem with this motor. I've searched web and quite a few others are having same symptoms and problems.

I've filed a complaint to dealer, volkswagen and consummer protection agency in Qc.

Also,
-some accesories are falling off (buttons coming off or stuck, ash-tray cover, unable to close hand-glove...).
-BBS mags are deteriorating at a very very fast paste.
-wiper motor had to changed twice... in summer.

I do mostly highway travelling; little city and country.

Rest of car is very good : confort and driving.

Cheers

Re: Jetta 1.8T Wolfsburgh Check Engine and more flaws

I also have a 1.8t. They are a lot of fun to drive, when they run correctly. Watch for O2 sensors, Mass Air Flow Sensors, and Ignition coils to fail, causing drivability problems and often check engine light. My vehicle is sluggish and even stalls occasionally when cold. Mass Air Flow sensor is typically to blame and there was a campaign by VW which extends a free repair to 7 years or 115Km (I think). Otherwise, the trim on these cars is terrible: Broken centre armrest latch, flaking paint on armrest plastic and door arm rest, paint flaked off the area around the headlight switch. Other bad stuff: BBS rims that corrode prematurely (always use winter tires / steel rims), wiper transmission siezed up, Turbo wastegate actuator had a leak. cheers.
