Hanging with a 92 16valve GTI in my Si

Driving over to our friends house, my buddy Dan and I where both driving, and since I've only had my new car for a few days now we haven't really had the chance to compare cars. So on the way over on 663 we turned at the light and he punches it, I see this and im in 2nd gear at like 1,700 rpm and wasn't about to downshift into first, so I just punch it, and for being so low in the rpm's I kept up with him pretty damn well. Also at the fact that he jumped on it before I did. He probably only pulled on me by a car length or so. His gti is a 2.0 liter with 140 HP from factory, with intake, exhaust, and chipped ecu. My new car is a 89 Civic Si with intake a cat back exhuast. I think from a launch I may be able to take him, but I'm not to sure. Well after we got to our friends house he says he didn't have it floored, but I think thats a bunch of crap. Not really a race, but its the first bit of action I've had in my car.

Congratulations on your ride man. The Gtis are 2.0 115 horspower right? He says its a 140 hp because he is calculating that power with his mods, i guess?

Its a 92. Last year for the mk2. They had a DOHC 16 valve 2.0 with 140hp stock.

Re: Hanging with a 92 16valve GTI in my Si

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't they only make the Si's in '90-'91? They came with sohc non-vtec 110hp engines. Good kill though

btw from a dig he would take you because he's got more torque to pull him off the line.
