Has anyone ever heard of any computer problems from the Gallardo? we're about to take delivery and the dealer talks about waiting for a computer part while the car is sitting at the dealer.

Re: Computer Problem
<HR noShade SIZE=0> While E-gear is fun. I don't recommend it now. Until they get some of the bugs out, there are just too many problems.
Now it is reving on up shifts. And when you are already around 6 of 7k RPM it is quite annoying and even scary, (and can't be good on the car), to have it rev up even further. Revs are supposed to drop on the upshift. That is why I'm shifting. I've already had the car in for a couple of warranty items. Now, here is another one. Blah |

Sorry to ask, do you own a Gallardo or do you work for a Lambo dealer? Why do you say that you've had it in for several warranty items? The car is only a few months old, what warranty items have you send in to get repaired if you are actually an owner.

Re: Computer Problem
EETJW: Previous post was from an owner who posted on another site. I thought I would add his remarks to mine which appeared just above his. This, I felt, would add more credibility as he is a real owner and not just the only one who is complaining about the "E" gear transmission. Are you gettiing the "E" gear?

Re: Computer Problem
EETJW: Here is another example.
So they built 890 last year..I know 3 people who have them 2 are Egear, which the owners hate, and one is a manual transmission, which seems OK. I had occasion to drive one of the Egears in NYC yesterday... in the owners garage and out on the street...Let me be charitable the car is UNDRIVABLE ! It lurches like a drunken sailor and goes in and out of gear at will. The dealer told my man that a "software" fix is in the works. So let's see how long it takes before Audi has to buy them all back from disgruntled owners ! REV |

MurcieGallardoTako,
Are you saying the e-gear is not worth picking up? we're taking delivery probably tuesday this week. Is it as Undrivable that you think it's not worth buying? Give me your honest opinion. |

Re: Computer Problem
I just blew my catalyst just by keeping it idling for 10 mins. Now I am fixing it. I don't know eGear computer caused it but still my 6 speed one has no problem. eGear is just pain when you drive back and forth in your garage. For daily driving, it is not that bad once you get used to it.

eetjw: Here is another one!
I saw a gallardo that had just rolled off the transport truck... thing was smoking and blowing oil and running for cr*p. The spark plugs were covered in oil at 70 miles It really amazed me that Audi seems unable to assemble a correctly functional engine let alone the car itself |

I got my Gallardo 4 months ago and have just over 3000 miles and have not had a big problem with the e-gear. It is a little tricky at times, but I like the system. I think it is better than the Ferrari F1 system. The only time it is a problem is when the car is cold. I sometimes drive it in traffic and the city (Chicago) and it is driveable. Overall I really like the system. Of course it can be improved, but it is as good as they get.

Since I fixed my exhaust, I have not had any further problems with both of mines.

e-gear problems
If you look on this and other Lambo forums you will see many complaints about the e-gear system, especially if you have hills to climb to get home. Mine wouldn't make it up my driveway without almost catching on fire, I have returned the Gallardo and are now in a lawsuit with Lamborghini and the dealer Platinum Motors (Lamborghini Beverly Hills) under California's lemon law. I only mention this to stop others ending up in this situation.
