97 3000gt SOHC need help!!
i wanted to know if anyone had any ideas on how to add more hp to my 97 SOHC base model. i already hav a k&n kipk kit and thats all. also the car is an automatic. i was thinkin bout convertin it to a stick but that would be out of my price range. i have about $800 to work with. i was considering swaping engines or was wondering if it is possible to add another camshaft to make it a dual if that is even possible. any help would be appreciated.

800 isn't that much to do a big job like tranny or engine swap. You might get a good deal if you know someone, but on average it will cost you a few grand. As well, I don't think it's even possible to change an SOHC into a DOHC. As far as power upgrades there are plenty of things you can do.
Most people start with I/H/E, intake headers and exhaust. You already have the intake, so you could get a downpipe and exhaust. A lighter flywheel, you could turbo or supercharger it, get limited slip differential to help with traction. Read some of the other posts on this forum, everyone wants to add hp, and about 1/2 of them aren't twin turbo platforms.
