how long it take to recharge battery?

i have a new battery just installed. It drained down to like 7 volts some how. We can pop/jump start the car fine, and the battery goes up to 14.2 volts or so. Then i turned it off after 5 minutes of letting it idle (also drove it around for like 2 minutes). Turned the car off, and it only turned over one time then it seemed to just die out and start clicking. How long does it take to recharge a battery after you jump start it?

Re: how long it take to recharge battery?

your alternator wont charge it properly. You need to dump it on a 40amp auto charger for probably 1 hr.....it needs a good charge as the battery has probably sulfated.
