Question 91 Crx Si - Help!!!!!!!!

My 91 CRX Si won't start. It backfires when turning over, sounds like it will catch, but does not. Just changed the plugs, little carboned up, and have just changed the alternator and belts. Ran fine before. Never touched the timing or the distributor, so that should not have changed.
I need help with this one!

problem startede before ever pulling off the sp wires. It ran 15 minutes, then stalled and would not restart. It should not have run smoothly if the wires were in the wrong order - right? Any other thoughts?

thanks.

I second that, the set screw came out of my rotor on my way to work, sounded like it would turn over, but just backfired.
