Rear Seats in CRX Help!?

I really want to know how hard and costly it would be to install rear seats in a USDM 1988-91 CRX like CharmCity has in his rex:

If anyone could find a how-to or something on creating or installing custom seats into a rex I would greatly appreciate it. Whether or not it would be cheap or not, or hard to do would be my deciding factor on which car to buy.

Please help me out guys! Thanks!

That easy hey..right on . Are there any laws against this in United States or Canada? Would you get busted from having people riding in the rear seats if you happened to be pulled over?

I've always wanted a CRX more, just haven't looked into buying one because of the lack of a back seat. Now I can install a back seat into a CRX, so now I want a CRX more . But if that doesnt happen I'll just go with a hatch instead.

Ok good, I was just wondering because I read before that someone was saying about legal issues in the US with CRX's and rear seats so they removed them in the USDM version of the car. Just seeing if that was true or not.

they removed em becasue they werent that safe and the us has high safety standards. I'd check your local laws to make sure it would be leagal to carry people back there.

Ohh ok. Where I live, if the cops ever stopped me and caught people riding in the back I doubt they would give a shit. Probably just let me be on my way and not even realize that the rear seat wasn't intended to be there.

Could do that, but how much would one of those go for? I'm sure it would be a rare find.

Well, I own a 300zx 2+2 and it was basically not mean to be a 4 seater car, but it shouldnt be much different in a CRX, probably a bit more cramped, but tolerable if anyone needs the ride .

I doubt it's that easy. You'd have to figure out a way to get the mounting points moved as well...

back seats

yeah i also have thought of seating up the back of my CRX...

the only solution i thought of was some how forming up some fiberglass buckets and then getting them kind of appolstered with maybe some 3/4 inch padding and installing a rollercoaster type lap bar.

the other idea was to put a hammock X-ways and do it that way.

also low rider lawn chairs with the cup holders on the sides.. hell yeah

either way its a fricking small a$$ place to put people especially with my 6'3" tall meatbag of a person driving with the seat back against the gas tank.

oh and the reason they have back seats in japan is because you can actually fit 4 japanese people in a CRX.

dont flame me on that it's just fun to say.
