Unhappy 97 Blazer..Truck dies for no reason

Have a 97 S-10 Blazer. The truck just started shutting off for now reason. The air bag light will come on all the time. Sometimes the truck will start itself again. And sometime I will have to pull off and re-start it. Also It seems to have a much harder time starting. Either in the morning or if I shut it off for a few minutes and try to start it again. HELP...

Sounds like you have a loss of spark. Check all the connections to the distributor, coil , and the computer.

I'll check that out. I just did some work on the brakes. Would that have done anything?

after you check the ignition, cap, wires, etc., check the ignition switch. some years have had trouble with ignition switches.

when it cuts off again, and your still rolling, try wiggling the ignition switch and see if it starts running again.

I think it may be the ignition switch. Removed and cleaned it yesterday. Also found alot of corrosion on the batt. term. I hope this fixes it.

Re: 97 Blazer..Truck dies for no reason

I have had similar problems. See my post (sleslie17) on my 97 Blazer for some ideas. I am goping to try thr Crank Pos Sensor. We may have ruled out ignition switch, but just in case - how hard was it to remove and clean?
