dies for no apparent reason

I need some help here.The truck 2000 chevy 4.3 V-6 has been dieing for no apparent reason.When it does it will turn over but wont fire off.Checked for fire and there was none.After a while it will start like nothing ever happened.Plugs,wires rotor cap,rotor and coil have been replaced.I did some checking on this web and decided it could be the (CKP) crankshaft position sensor.Did the elec. checks from the Haynes book.This is what I found and this is where I need some help.The voltage coming in is correct.Alittle over 12 volts.The Voltage signal going back to the PCM is 2.76 volts AC.The book calls for 5.o volts AC.So I have about half the voltage going back to the PCM that it calls for.Will this cause the truck to die for no apparent reason? I did this check at the time that the truck will start.It also had a code from the last time it died.P1351 (ignition control circuit high voltage)I read another thread that had the same symptoms and it was the CKP.Any help would be appreciated.

Hmmm , i am not to sure about the newer trucks , i know my 2000 silverado with the 4.8 has coil packs ao there is no distributer cap, does your truck have on and if so it may be the ignition module.... <shrugs>

I'm pretty sure the v6s still use a distributor cap and not the coil packs.

my 2001 8.1 does the exact same thing. The code it threw was something about the crank position sensor too. Havn't tried changing it. Is it something easy?

I have a 4.3L that gave me problems around 22,000 miles. I was going do the highway and it just lost all engine power, a few seconds later the engine was back. This happened a few times the first day it occured, the next day I brought it to the dealership. It was in service for over 2 days, the replaced the distributor and catalytic converter. About 500 miles later the truck died again this time it had to be towed; another dealership had it running again in about 45 minutes. This time they said there was a wiring problem. The truck ran fine until about 40,000 miles then the problems started reoccuring...same as before, it just loses engine power, sometimes it start back up after a few minutes sometimes it won't start at all. The distributor and rotor has been replaced 3 times on this truck along with the spark plugs and wires, and even the computer one time. It's out of warranty now so I'm not sure if it qualifies for protection under the Lemon Law. If anyone has any ideas what could be causing this I would love to know. Thanks.
