Re: ACT Prolite Flywheel. Is lighter always better?

Ok, well a lighter flywheel can be a good thing. It lightens the rotating mass that the engine has to rotate. Freeing some hp. The lighter the flywheel the faster the engine will rev as well. This can be a bad thing.
If you are jus driving normal, not shifting very fast, you rpm will drop alot more between shifts. Which will not be any fun.
If i were to get a flywheel for the street i would chose the STREETLITE out of the two you mentioned. It is lighter but not to light. The more practical of the two.
As fo what i look for i a flywheel. Well i like to hae a replaceable friction surface. Some flywheels have replaceable friction sufaces. This can save alot of money on resurfacing or replacing of a flywheel.

Thanks for the explanation! Does anyone know how much a factory 5th generation Prelude flywheel weighs?
Also, does any of you guys have Flywheel installed? If so what brand, and how much do they go for? How do you like them?

Keep in mind that the lighter the flywheel, the flimsier it is. I wouldn't get anything lighter than that 8.8lbs.

I am taking the ACT Streetlite when I'm doing my swap.
