97 Monte Z34 3.4DOHC

I have a 97 chevy monte carlo with a 3.4L DOHC v6. I recently did some work on it and can't seem to get it runing properly again. It started out an oil leak ( a quart every 2 days) which I believe was coming from the distributor seal (i hear is a common problem with the 3.4's). Along the way of disassembling the top part of the motor and it's excessories I desided to change everything I could get to while it was apart. I also desided to change the timeing belt. Along with the belt and oil seal, I changed an O2 sensor, head gaskets, cam carier gaskets, cam cover gaskets, radiator, a/c condensor (had a hole in it), tranny fluid and filter, motor oil and filter, pcv valve and tube, intake gaskets, plentum gaskets, plugs wires, a power steering hose, plugs and wires, and a few others (yes this is a very big job and has taken my close to 3 months now). After finaly getting it back together it seems to be running very rich, and very rough at an idle. It starts ok for the most part but after a few minutes of idleing the rpms start to bounce, it finally dies, and is hard to get restarted. I did an idle learn to it through a scanner and manually. I also did a vaccum test to it which also seemed to be fine. It was getting a TPS code. I finally decided to take the pletnum off again and noticed oil inside which appears to be getting sprayed in from the pcv valve. Before doing all of this work it seemed to be running fine. The good news is the oil leak seems to be gone.
Any comments and help would be much appriciated!!!!

Re: 97 Monte Z34 3.4DOHC

I also forgot to mention....I did check to make sure everything was pluged in and tightened down. Although it is possible I did miss something, I don't think I did. Also the car has about 78,000 mile on her. Thanx again!!!

the only thing that i would suggest is check you local gm dealer and see what recals you have on you VIN number. i checked on my 96 z34 dohc and there were 2 one was already done that was the spark plug wires and the other one wasnt done yet it has something to do with your intake valves.

i have a 3100 and ive never heard that before. but i can be wrong. it sounds like it just moght be a simple fix like a plug not pluged in or a wire was shorted. who knows. you might have to flash the comp to get the codes away and start new. that and also do check with your gm dealer. or try www.mymonte.com they will know
