1995 Monte Carlo Z34 3.4l DOHC alternator
Ok. How do you get the darn alternator from behind the engine. I have all the bolts and wires off, but it appears that I am going to need to:
1) pull the passenger axle or 2) release the motor mount and raise or lower the engine What's the easiest way? 1 or 2 or other? |

Remove the 2 motor mounts that connect the engine to the radiator support, and rock the engine forward and tie it down. This is also an easier way to change the rear sparkplugs.

Are you sure you are talking about the same car? The spark plugs can be removed without moving the engine as long as you use a long extention.

Yeah, they can be removed without rocking, I've done it. I'm just saying it's easier. On some 3.4 engines, the dog bones have an extra bolt hole in them just for holding the engine foward while replacing plugs, etc...

Engineers need to spend some time as a mechanic. I bet cars would be a lot easier to work on.......
