88-91 civic EX question

its in the 88-91 year range (not my car, not sure what year...) its a 4 door sedan, and its not running... whats wrong with it?! (lol)

no, really here is what i know--
1 it was running, then it died at a stop sign, refused to start.
2 it sat at my freinds house for a good month or so.
3 we moved it to my house about a week ago and droped it off the trailor by accident -passenger side fell off ramps while backing it down (dont ask) landed across frame/oil pan... no visable damage...
4 he thought it was the starter so he changed that [at this point i hadnt' asked what happened to it he just said the starter was bad]
5 with a new starter on we tryed to start it- all it does is click. its the click that you would hear from the motor (starter motor) ingageing and grabbing the flywheel but not being able to turn it...
6 i've checked the oil... it has oil in it though it REALLY needs to be changed...
7 it has water in it...

i'm at a loss here on what is up with it. oh, we checked to make sure its not vapor locked (for some reason it does that every once in a while) anyway, i think the motor is locked up. mayie he drove it a little to long w/o changeing the oil lol. i dont know if the car overheated b4 it stoped running but if it did it did not blow the water pump/water return lines. any ones would be appreciated. oh, its an auto if that helps.

Re: 88-91 civic EX question

My 91 did that one time it dies in the middle of a busy intersection lol. It was the battery on mine, I know that a car will run if it is already started if the battery goes bad but it just died and would not start. So I checked the battery and sure enough it was bad. I got a new battery and it has not doen it sense. It is worth a try b/c alot of tiimes the click you hear is the starter solenoid tring to engage the starter but the battery does not have enough juice to turn the motor over.

hmm, well, it couldn't be the battery... we used it to turn the motor over in my civic (right next to his lol) while we were taking the pistons out of mine.... and we thought that it may have been dead so we put my car on it with cables and with my car running... still no go. but you did give me an idea. i didn't bother to check to see if the main power line from the battery to the starter sel was good. ill check that tomorrow.
