88-91 Civic Headlight Projectors question....
Hey anyone bought them headlight projectors? Well anyway, i just bought a pair the other day off of e-bay and i tried to install it. Man was it a b!tch to install that thing. I hadda take a whole lot of sh!t apart before i could put that in. Anyway, my question is.........does it fit your civic like OEM does? Cause daym, i hadda take off my air intake before i could put that in. (left side headlamp) and now, i can't even put my intake back in. Anyone had this problem?
And is it ok for a filter cone to just be connected right next to the throttle body? cos thats all that i did. My cold air AEM intake that i used to have in there had a whole in it now because when it went down to the whole where your filter is at, there was a big whole on it because of the side wall where the whole is at dented a whole in the intake. Anyone had this problem? if so, how'd you go about it? C!vic S!R |

I've got the projectors...
I had the same problem with my intake. I had a DC sports DAC intake, and the projectors pushed right up against it, so I had to pretty much push the intake around until it fit better, but they were still right up against each other. Shouldn't be a problem to have your filter right on the TB, but it's probably loud as hell, and also, you're going to be drawing in very hot air from the engine bay back there, so it's probably not good to leave it there for too long. What I ended up doing was re-locating my battery to the hatch area, and then I bought a cheap-ass APC intake for an Accord, and put that in, and there's all kinds of space in there now. (click on the link in my sig for pics). Also, since the projectors were made for a CRX, and I put them in my hatch, the corner lenses don't fit right without some modification. I'll assume that you've got a CRX since you didn't mention that problem though... I didn't have to take too much stuff apart to get the lights in, just the front bumper and the trim piece that goes above the bumper... but that was just to get at the bolt under each light. Hope that helps somehow.

I bought the same projectors off of Ebay, on the right side near the intake I had to turn the projector upside-down to make it fit

i have them too. since they are made for the crx i just swithed the whole headlight housings and used the stock ones. I have an AEM CAI intake, and the piping does rub a little against the headlight.... no biggy tho.

Daym, that sucks dude! If i only knew that it fits a CRX better, i wouldn't have bought them headlights. They look great on it though.
And oh yea, i don't have a CRX, i've a a 89 si hatch. so yea, i think that might be a problem. Anyway, along with the headlight projectors, i also bought some light bulbs to go along with it as well. But they don't seem to fit well either. what's up with that too? I didn't know that lightbulbs came with the projectors so that's why i ordered some lightbulbs as well. i tried to fit it into the projectors but they didn't fit well. And neither did the corner lights. I was thinking about purchasing the black corner lights to go along with it and maybe it might fix the problem. Any idea how to go about it? Daym, i don't know if i wanna get another intake. it kinda sucks how you ad a mod and then you'll have to mod it for the mod to fit the mod. And then, it gets all confusing like this. ARGGGG Anyway, someone let me know how to fix this POS!!!

I would take the projectors out, and swap the mounting brackets from your old headlights to the projectors, that way, the corner lenses will fit without modification.
CRX corner lenses won't fit right (so I'm told). That won't solve the problem with the intake though... Also, I don't know about bulbs, I just used the ones that came with the projectors, but I'm pretty sure the bulbs for the projectors aren't the same as what normally comes stock in our cars...

Ok, what if i went to the junk yard and picked up a mounting bracket that is out of a CRX? Would that work better?
Since you have them, what do you think of them? Rate them 1 being the worst and 10 being the best. Are you satisfied with your purchase of that? As far as me, i am satisfied to an extent but if it's going to give me problems like this, i don't know anymore. What if the light bulbs on that projector goes out and you find out that other 9005 bulbs don't work either. If it don't go well with me, i'll sell my projectors and just go back with the OEM ones. |

OK guys theres some badinfo here. The Civic,CRX headlamps and brackets are the same. They havethe same PO at the dealer. The only diff is the years 88-89 and90-91. The reason they dont perfect is because they are not OEM.

as stated B4 you should swap out the mounting brackets on the projectors for the stock oem brackets from the old headlights...and you should not have any problems from gettin the corner lamps on...doin this will also save you the time and money from goin to the junk yard
now the light bulbs from the oem headlights should fit perfectly onto the projectors if not try playin with the three screws near the entrance of where the bulb goes to the projector....try loosenin it and retightenin it or you could add washers to the screws that should do the trick but i didnt have any prob with my installation..so good luck |

What I did with the bulbs and other people have done too is put the hight beams in for the lows. They fit perfect, and light up the road a lot more.
I was kinda dissapointed at how weak the low beams looked in there, the high beams are much better, but I am still kinda dissapointed. |
