I have a few questions about installing NOS on a 97 SE. I'm not familiar with how the Maxima engine responds to these systems. What size jets are good to use? Furhtermore, does the timing need to be adjusted, and are there any components on the engine that you have to watch out for? Any help would be great!

I don't know much about the actuall install. But I know it is safe to get bigger fuel injector's and fuel pump. Also it would be safe to have a JWT ECU.And if you are an auto you will definately need a VB and tranny cooler.

thanks, it's a five speed. I'll definitely look into the other components. Probably much easier to cost justify them over a rebuilt engine!

Myself and Nizmolee are getting ready to do this mod, so I have been looking into it a lot. First off, you CANNOT adjust the timing of the 4th gen+ maxima's without modding your ECU. the only adjustment is through there, so you would have to do something like the mentioned ECU mod by JWT. You can run from a low jet to about a 60 shot and not worry TOO much about your car. That is not saying don't worry, but only minor upgrades are necassary. A tranny cooler is a good idea for the auto guys, and you might want to think about upgrading your clutch on the 5-speed. You should have, at a minimum, a Fuel pressure guage and an A/F meter, but an EGT would also be useful, as well as a NOS pressure guage in the cockpit, so to speak. If you want to get into the 70+ shot range, look at upgrading your fuel pump, going to a step colder spark plug, possible bigger injector's, and some serious tuning. I know of some guys that are running 100 shot, but I implore you to start low and learn. Once you go bang it's all over. www.clubmaxima.com has a good write up on NOS, and there is a whole bunch of experience on www.maxima.org , but most of those guys are around texas. Start slow and play it safe. I would rather spend a couple $$$ and upgrade the fuel system than blow my engine. Good luck. :sun:
