Cavavlier RS V6 3.1 Coolant prob

Hi , I got a serious car trouble , i got a cavalier rs 93 v6 3.1 and my coolant keeps goin down every day , i fill it up in the morning and at the end of the day my coolant is empty ( in the white plastic container) that goes to the radiator. There's no sign anywhwere where it could leak and my heater seems to be loosing it's heat. Also to had to this problem ,there's a big smoke that come's out of my muffler kinda blueish , my oil stays full. My motor runs ok and the smoke does smell like prestone. Can somebody please help me !?

If the smoke you see is white in color it could be your head gasket leaking antifreeeze into the combustion chamber. You should also check where you heater hoses go into the firewall. Gm used plastic ends on the heater cores and it seems they like to split after a while.

Re: Cavavlier RS V6 3.1 Coolant prob

I've done a few head gaskets on 2.8 and 3.1 motors. Unfortunately, blown head gaskets are a common problem, due in part to the crappy machining of the engine blocks at the factory. I sand the block decks until the tool marks are gone and plane the heads whenever I have one apart.
