Stereo light problems

Seems I am losing lights in my stereo on my 99'. Anyone know if this can be fixed? Lost my "2" and "5" first, now it seems I have lost the entire upper right 1/4.

My 95 has the same problem, and its bone stock. (ie: not butchered)
Anyone know if the head unit can be taken apart and bulbs or LED's replaced?

Re: Stereo light problems

Yes there are backlights behind your buttons ... Depending on your soldering skills this can be done in just a few minutes... As for the parts.. well im not sure of the part number, but I will see what I can find out ...

Re: Stereo light problems

Thanks for the info. Please let me know anything on the part #. Soldering skills are good. Not sure on the whole "butchering" comment means. The three problems I am having with my truck happened on their own.

January 2004 holds the record for snowfall in Rochester now (+/- 80")
January 2004 holds 2nd place for snowiest month on record
We broke 7 records for record lows & or snow in January dating back to 1800's.

It started late, but never stopped in January. All lake effect. We are already over 103" for the year which is our average and we haven't gotten to March yet (notorious for big storms). Feb has been slow. In retrospect, our snowmobile house in the Adirondacks had only 18" of snow in January, but a couple nice storms in Feb that we didn't get. The riding has been outstanding with no real thaws, just warmed up enough to freeze the base solid.

How about you??

Re: Stereo light problems

ok its been so long since I have had these radios cracked open im unsure which bulbs you need. There should be a blue covering over them or a clear lens. My suggestion is to change all of them at once since you already have it apart. Oh and BTW use a sharpie to mark all of your screws and bulbs location when removing them. If any buttons are scratched change them as well (be sure to get the right color coded buttons) spray your CD mechanism out with compressed air to insure reliability....There are a few tricks to make the replacement a little easier just let me know if you need more guidance.

You may be able to find them cheaper .. but at least this will get you in the right direction..
