Someone Help me drive Stick!!

God I suck at driving stick. I keep fucking stalling at take offs. That's the real kicker. I know you have to push on the clutch, shitft to first, release the clutch SLOWELY while accelerating a little. I GET THE SLOWEST TAKE OFFS. At a stop light i cant ever get moving fast enough, Someone help me out please!!!!

Practice Practice Practice! There's no one real "trick" to it other than to practice a lot. If you have the money or your folks can help you out see if you can get enrolled in a good driving school near you if there is one. I don't mean "driver's ed" but i mean a real driving school with good instructors. In most cases they're held at racetracks and whatnot, but I've seen them take place in big parking lots and so forth. They're invaluable and will make you a better/safer driver overall. It takes a while to get used to driving stick though. My RX-7 was the first stick I've ever actually owned (had driven plenty before though) and I guarantee you it was much more of a PITA to learn on than most other cars, but after two months or so it was no real problem. Just keep practicing.:sun:

Definitely try and find a parking lot or something like that so you don't get nervous about the traffic. I got really frustrated when I was learning because I killed the car a lot. But if you keep practicing, within a month you should be a pro! Good luck.

the first time i ever drove a stick was on the test drive for the car i have now. didnt stall so i guess i did ok. i felt really dumb tho. i was pushing the brake and trying to start it. the guy was like "push the clutch" i kept saying "I AM!!" then i was like...... oh...... and quietly pushed the clutch and cranked it.

the part i hate most is stopping on the upside of a hill. the roll back scared me. kept feeling like i was gonna hit the guy behind me.

oh well. havent hit anyone yet. *knocks on wood*
