Go to a local window tint shop and ask for samples of different tints.
Not sure how to stick it on, but you are well on your way. Plus it's free

When putting it on you need to clean the window so there are no marks etc.
Lightly spray the window with water then apply the tint on to the widow.
Use a really soft cloth or stiff carboard to rub over the window tint to smooth it down. This helps to get rid of any tiny air bubbles that occur.
Allow to dry.

DONT do it dry......you will never get the bubbles out

A drop of dish detergent in the spray water will act as a lubricant to help position the tint and activate the adhesive.
It is also helpful to know there is a clear protective sheet covering the adhesive, tape put on both sides of a corner and pulled apart will separate the clear protective sheet from the tint.

Or......Get Testors "clear smoke" paint for the windows! How dark it gets is based on how many coats you put on!
If you want to tint the windows a specific color try food coloring mixed with future floor polish. There may even be "smoke" color available(?) but I use the coloring for the blue strip at the top of my windshields.
TIPS!!!-
1) Remake your window glass in acetate for truly accurate thickness!
2) Use clear Future to dip the glass in for a georgeous luster!!
3) Thin the area where the "glass" attaches inside the body to make the glass depth more realstic!!!
Just another tip selection from,
Russ

real car window tints work well on side windows, but they tend to not stick very well and leave gaps for rear windows where they have defogger lines...

painting on the other hand may be a problem too. You'll need to test with different brands of paint to make sure they stick to the bare plastic well, due to the clear plastic doesn't have a primer coat.

one note on painting.. Tamiya Smoke paint DOES NOT WORK WELL... i tired.
