I am looking to buy a 1996-2002 4Runner but I dont want an automatic. Is the automatic trans standard???? Or is the 5 speed manual standard??? I havent seen a manual trans 4Runner from this year!!! I really want this model 4Runner in a 5 speed manual.

You can find 5-speeds up until 2000 for sure, after that i think they were all automatics in north america.

You can find them - hard, but keep your eyes out. I have a 2000 manual. Love it most days, but sometimes when you are trying to eat, talk on the phone and shift it gets complicated. The dealer had a hard time selling it so I get a okay deal. MOst people in Oklahoma don't want a 4runner that isn't automatic.

Yes, i think 2000 was the last year of the 5 speed as well.

This baby has 41,000 miles on it, 360 watt MTX,Alpine, JL Audio sound system and still looks new.
