I have a newfound respect for tribute bands

Buggered off into town last night to go see a Tool covers band. Get to the bar, pay $7 (Whee!), see the first band play, decided it was too early to hang around here, so we left and crawled a bit trying to find a pool table.

Get back to the gig bar about 11, run into an old schoolmate. Turns out his band was the first one playing, but I didn't even see him. Then the headline act came on.

Bear in mind, at this stage I have two liquid E's (vodka/champagne/red bull) in me and several bourbons, so things are going great. They played a lot of the greats, The Grudge, Aenima, etc, a BRILLIANT version of Tool's cover of No Quarter by Led Zeppelin (woah, mouthful). The only song they didn't play that I would have loved to hear was Third Eye, but oh well..

I've never seen the point of tribute bands, until now. I missed Tool when they came here, and I won't be going to APC But, I got to see a damn good impersonation of Tool, and it only cost me 7 bucks, and I had a great time in a moshpit, except for some lamer with "CHRISTIAN SCUM DIE BLEEDING" on the back of his shirt, but meh.

Walked back to the train station while it's pissing down with rain, after I decided to leave my jacket at my mate's place. Met some randoms at the train station, then got back to my town, walked in the rain to mate's flat, fell asleep about 5, woke up at 9

My shirt's still wet

PS: I'll definately go see the real thing next time they're here!

Tool is the greatest band, and anyone who can play their music is cool in my book . Lateralus is an awesome song.I mssed the last Tool tour, but some friends went and told me it was the best concert ever, I can't wait untill the next CD.I am going to see A Perfect Circle March 20th with about 10 friends and it's gonna be F-ing sweet.
