Question B16A/B18C head

I've been looking to buy a GSR and i saw one with a B16A block with a B18c1 head. How reliable of a motor would this be and how it would measure up to just a stock B18c1? I also so a 'teg with a B20. What car is the B20 taken from and how do they compare to a B18c? thx for any info.

Re: B16A/B18C head

The b16 with a B18C1 head is dumb IMO, b/c the B16A head flows better than the B18C1. If you want a VTEC integra then get the GSR or ITR. Don't buy something with a swap etc.

Re: B16A/B18C head

Isn't the B16 head the best head?

How would a B18A1 block with a B16 work out? I'm thinking about selling this slow ass Civic and getting a 90-93 teg and putting a B16 head on it...

Re: B16A/B18C head

Well as far as LS/VTEC goes that is about the best combo, but I am now not really a fan of the LS/VTEC. It is alright but I think either get a gsr or keep the b18b/a. My

Re: B16A/B18C head

b20 comes out of crv. its what I got in my storage unit. cant wait to FINALLY use it. I bought a teg to put it in but then before I swapped, went into a ditch and now the engine sits in there kinda crooked so i didnt wanna try and get th4e mounts all bolted back cuz I can see lots of stress on them. I am thinking now of getting a 2nd gen and doing it since it is cheaper. but the B20 compared to the B18C1, it has a ton of torque but doesnt rev like the B18C and isnt equipped with VTEC. but you can always take care of that little problem.

The B18C head has actually been shown to flow SLIGHTLY better than the b16a head. stock vs stock. I've seen a chart from a flow bench of the two heads. When you put a B16A head on a B18C block, you lose like .2 compression points due to the different design of the combustion chambers. The B16A has a round style one, while the B18C is more squared. they have different volumes, and alter compression. A B18C head would probably raise the compression of a 10.2:1 B16A to 10.4:1. assuming it was assembled properly, and both block and head are in proper working order, then it shoud be perfectly reliable. You have to run the P72 gsr Intake Manifold w/ secondary runners...or get an aftermarket intake manifold like a Skunk2 with the B18C head tho. The P73 ITR I/M wont bolt up, cuz the ITR B18C(5,6) utilitizes a modified B16 head.

yeah... I asked what your plans were, then 94tegRS replied and for some reason I thought it was you... and he was saying all the stuff he was going to do to his car and I saw his sig and it also had all his mods. Then I looked and it was him, so I meant for the question to go back out, because I still dont know what your car plans are. confusing
