I have just suffered my second blown oil pan gasket in less than a year!
Does anyone know why this keeps happening? Are the 3.0L engines known for this? Thanks, Jeff |

Check and replace your PCV valve and also check your breather tube and cap from the valve cover to the air filter. Also blow though both lines and make sure they are clear.
The PCV system as you probably know, pulls air through the engine to remove blowby gasses, if part of the PCV system is plugged then the blowby gas can pressurize the crankcase. |

Re: 2001 Taurus Blown Oil Pan Gaskets
My 01 ses has 57kmi and has gone through 2 pan gaskets, and my dad's 97 gl has gone through 2 also. Both are vulcan engines. All have leaked where the harmonic balancer is. There are no bolts on that part and the gasket works its way out. Great design!! All they would need are some tabs on the gasket and the problem would stop. I checked all the hoses on the PCV system and they are all good. It just keeps happening.
