Hi all,
I'm trying ascertain if the Tamiya 1/20 Leyton House F1 kit is still in production (for Australia anyway). From what I can tell, it seems that it's been discontinued. Can anyone confirm this??? I've got a half finished kit sitting in the cupboard that I accidentally partially destroyed... I'd love to complete it! Thanks for any help folks. Mark P.S. Great site by the way!!! |

Re: Tamiya Leyton House F1 kit - still around???
Hi Leon,
Just looking at it now, and I think's it's more a case of what's NOT missing - or rather what's not salvagable. It was fairly early in my modelling that I started this kit so it's rather poor quality. I may be able to use 20% of the remaining kit or parts, but the rest will have to be replaced - so I'd say an entire new kit is in order. Oh, it was on this kit that I learnt not to try and make the paint/glue dry quicker using a regular blow-heater... up close... turned half the main cowling into a blob of plastic! LOL Ah well, I'll find one around the globe somewhere! Cheers, Mark |

I have build that kit, and I liked it a lot. Can't really tell why? I build the models somewhat "straight-out-the-box", and this one turned out to be great fun. It was my first experience with a tamiya spray, don't know the number but it is called coral blue.
Here's some pictures of the model: And here's a reference picture from my website . For the moment it is the only reference picture, but I am planning to have more the next couple of month's, but it is not easy to find good reference pictures for this kit. My plan is to have reference pictures for each kit issued by Tamiya regarding Formula one.

Re: Tamiya Leyton House F1 kit - still around???
Saw one in a "bargain bin" when I was in Melbourne over Christmas, so they are still around in Australia. The kit has been OOP for a long time now, perhaps Tamiya will reissue it some time soon.

Another alternative is to try ebay. That's where I picked mine up from.
