Re: wut does N\A stand for?

naturally aspirated, no turbo charger, super charger. basically any engine with no forced induction.

I've been kinda confused on how you guys use this term:

When you say naturally aspirated, do you mean all motor as well? as in no nitrous? Cause ive read in some places they say naturally aspirated and have nitrous mentioned

Re: wut does N\A stand for?

well i was going to say no nitrous but then i thought the very same thing, technically N/A just means no forced induction but i think the term is commonly used interchangeably with all motor but that is one for the experts, anyone?

dont hold me to this but i remeber reading somewere that N2o was forced induction sence it 'forces' more air in than would normally be attainable because it makes the air really fucking cold. and to the best of my knowlage there are no all-motor cars that use N2o... all-motor means that the power is produced BY THE MOTOR and not by the use of other hardware to influence the amount of air that can be injested or the amount of power that can be created... and wouldn't N2o be hardware?!

i could be wrong... i guess i realy didn't help this post much lol.

^^^he is write.

n20 is its own form of fi.

when it is heated to a certain point(about 500 degrees f), it decomposes into nitrogen and oxygen, thus creating more oxygen for more fuel which = more power. so it is adding more oxygen to an engine which normally wouldnt have it. it also cools the intake air when it vaporizes, which allows for more air to be stuffed into the engine.

It is not forced inducted. it is just jucied. the n2o just cools the fuel air mixture making it burn hotter longer and more complete. The n2o is still being pulled in with the vacum of the engine. Not by being pushed in.

N/A can also mean not avalible

yeah, i guess its not really FI, but it does allow for more air to enter the engine, it just doesnt "push" it in. but most everyone will agree nitrous tuning is different from all motor tuning(or n/a tuning)

Shut the hell up, I guess your gas is being sucked from the INJECTORS too huh? N2o is indeed forced in, under pressure from the bottle, through noozles, which are opened by a solenoid. Can we thin the gene pool a little more, please?

Nitrous is forced induction, whether it is under boost, blown or sprayed anytime you add more than an engine can ingest on it's own, you are FORCING it to use more air.

Makes sense...does nitrous actually increase the manifold pressure?

I'd say no, since it reacts to heat and expands in the cylinder.
