RB26DETT or Tomei Genesis Stage 3

I've been thinking about swapping a RB26DETT into a 94 S13. I know that it will cost around 15k but its still a hell of a lot cheaper then my next alternatives and will be faster. Then i was wondering if i could put a Tomei Gemesis stage 3 with twin HKS ball-bearing turbos. i just saw a skyline in a mag with that and im jealous now lol anyways i know nothing about the Genesis and if any1 does i need to know if i fits in a 94 and some specs on it. thanx alot

Re: RB26DETT or Tomei Genesis Stage 3

hey i also got a convert, and yeah the fronts are the same on all s13's so the same amount of mods goes for all the s13's

but seriously, dont make ur decisions based on a mag, look into the rb25det

how much money are u working with? will u swap or a shop?

and just to know, how old r u

Re: RB26DETT or Tomei Genesis Stage 3

You Could Take The Cost Of The Genesis And Build The Rb25dett To Be Even More Powerful.
Btw, A Rb26dett Swap Costs:
Cost Of Clip
Cost Of Rb25det Tranny
Cost Of Mckinney Mounts
Cost Of Driveshaft
Cost Of Mckinney Dp
So Your Looking At Roughly $4500 - 7k

RB25 sounds best but Genesis would be sweet as fuck i'd love to see one on the board.

25k?

S13 silvia front end, small block chevy, fuel injected.

for all those parts and car, what 5k?

installation, 5k

long tube headers, mandrel bend 3" exhaust. 1.5k

Drivetrain, wheels, tires, 7k

6.5k to rebuild a chevy small block, such as a Lt1 preferably. Forged pistons, rods, forged crank, new heads, cam, valvetrain, computer, block work....

look on face when someone sees a 9second 240sx whipping your ass without a doubt, and the whole time sounding like a dragster, priceless.

----------------------------

I hear horror stories of people paying shops 20k to install a Rb26 into a S13. 5k for parts isn't going to do a RB26 much justice if u want badass speed. Then u still have other things to worry about, accesory pieces(exhaust, drivetrain, wheels, tires, differential, transmission, labor, or any body work) I think you are over budget.

my dad is a smart person, he's been a mechanic for about 35 years. He always tells me the best ride is a lightweight import car with an american v8 car. I didn't always believe this until I was actually shown the light hehe. Lets jus say stepping on the gas in a camaro gives a better feeling then doing it in a civic. Now putting that v8 into a car like a rx7, 240sx, miata, mr2, will really make a fast car.

people can swap stock v8's into some cars and be in low 13's and 12's.. that is fast for a street car with a stock engine.

Re: RB26DETT or Tomei Genesis Stage 3

The Miata With A V8 Is Better Than Stock Handling And Power Wise..... The 240z Is Even Better With A V8..... As For A 240sx I'm Not Sure How The Car Will React As Its Hard Enough To Keep The Car From Spinning Tires And Sliding.

I know someone with a Sunbeam Tiger

has a stock Ford 289 hi Performance engine

it roasts them through 3rd gear.... all this on a stock engine. Face it the more u spend on the car the more it requires, even a set of headers will reduce reliabilty and increase maintenance costs. Imagine upgrading turbos, rebuilding the engine, different cams... even in a Chevy or a RB26 they are not going to last long if built up compared to a completely stock engine from the factory. Good luck rebuilding your RB when it blows in a couple months, and it will. Atleast the Chevy is cheaper to build and parts/blocks are 100x more availble then rb26 parts in the US.

275 Drag Radials, wide wheels, good Clutch Differential, some new suspension pieces in the rear, I don't see a problem with traction.
