what is a longblock?

I was looking at ZC engines at various online shops and they are for sale in longblock form only. Excuse my ignorance but what does this mean?

Re: what is a longblock?

That means that you get the engine only, no trans. ie: head, block, dist, manifolds, flywheel, no trans.

no its not dude its just the block, thats why people just buy short blocks sometimes, so they can just build it up without having to worry about spending too much money bc theyre gettin better pistons and all neways

Re: what is a longblock?

actually it all depends on who you talk to alot of times people call a short block a block with a crank sometimes they say short block but its got everything except a head it all depends on what they consider a long block or short block i would ask some questions before you order because you might not get everything you need or think you are getting

A Complete Short Block is everything in the block.
A Short block is just the block and crank.

It all depends on the wording and who is selling it to you.

A longblock is basically a head attached to the block; again, the completeness of it depends on the seller.

I always condidered the long block as the whole thing, and the short block is just the block and head(no electronical stuff or trans or any of that)
