You stupid idiot posers.

I'm not going to mention names, but I'm seriously sick of this idiotic bull shit.
Yet another thread is closed -true a repost, but that's not the point- in the Drifting forums, because "mad tyte D1 JDM rwd-all-the-way" posers can't handle the truth. You read on a website that RWD can drift, and only rwd can drift, you ignore all other facts because you want it to seem more "elite"

"FF can't drift, because it's not RWD! I read so on a website, and I know that the internet is always 100% correct, and that there are never, for any reasons ever exceptions to what you read on an internet site"

Oh really? So what - I guess cars with round headlights will drift better than those with rectangular headlights?

I'm so fed up with discussions going to hell because of posers who don't know anything! "You can only drift FF with a handbrake" "you can only 'powerslide' an FF car, which isn't drifting, drifting is impossible with FF" this BS and more is always clogging up that damn forum, anytime anybody even makes a mention of front wheel drive powertrains... UGH!
Listen now, and get it into your heads - a POWERSLIDE in an FF car would result in UNDERSTEER. What you RWD nutbags commonly refer to as drifting (breaking the traction of the rear wheels with power is the only "real way to drift") is closer to a powerslide than what an FF car could ever do
And secondly, you don't even have to touch the handbrake to oversteer through a turn in an FF car (apparently nobody has ever heard of lift throttle oversteer, or left foot braking)

Anyway, if any poser rwd elitist "drifters" want to flame me for not being in the poser mainstream, then go ahead! fire away
Of course the first person who just says that I'm a poser, and I'm only saying this because I want drift my rice civic - will win a one way ticket to Micheal Jackson's wonderland ranch!
Because, I don't have a civic, and I have no clue, and don't care about this JDM yo, elitist drift fad you guys have going on.

I used no names, or actual quotes, for the sake of those responsible for these lies - however my fake quotes where based on real ones. I don't know why I'm angry, most of those posts are laughable. "only e-brake" "not drifting, powersliding"

Re: You stupid idiot posers.

Pffft....ya poser.

And for everyone else's information, 4WDs can drift too. I have seen a wicked beaten up WRX drifted by a japanese chick. They need a bit more power and speed, but they can certainly drift.

Re: Re: Re: You stupid idiot posers.

Half of them think that the Japanese "invented drifting" they don't realize, that before drifting was just a show, it had been used around the world by many people in actual races.

Ok, my, so quit reading if you dont give a shit....

Drifting is only a driving technique for negotiating tight corners under a speed higher than the traction the vehicles tires will allow. It has been used in rally for years with 4WD vehicles, front wheel drive vehicles, and yes, rear wheel drive vehicles both under the vehicles own power and with the usage of the side brake.

To me, drifting is only useful for getting through the chicane on a tight racetrack or negotiating a hairpin turn under a high rate of speed. It is NOT the fastest way through most corners, as the vehicles power is not being delivered to the ground in an efficient manner. When the wheels of a car are sliding/spinning at the same time, the kinetic energy of the vehicle is lost. A driver who can maintain traction through a turn at the same rate of speed will have a high corner exit speed resulting in a faster overall lap time.

Any time the ass end of your vehicle is traveling at a higher rate of speed than the front in any type of timed competition, you have most likely made a mistake.

As for recreation drifting is concerned, I feel it is a waste of tires, a burden on the vehicle, and a hazard on the track or street. It's not racing, it wont make you faster, and in my opinion if you can drift faster than you can take the corner under traction, you should practice driving more.

But as I said, Just my opinion.

Re: You stupid idiot posers.

I do all my drifting in Gran Turismo 3. It's fun once you learn how to do a nice drift, and it's safe. I used to be a big fan of drifting 4 years ago, until it was exposed in the U.S. Then all these kids jumped on the bandwagon. Seems like drifting went hollywood as soon as it was braught to the U.S.

We share similiar opinions. As for not caring, I don't care about this new fad, with drifting in itself as a sport - but that's not to say I don't care about drifting as it is used in other forms of motorsport. If that clears it up a bit. I guess I just don't like BS, as I already deal with enough "informed" people due to my involvement with cars such as Yugos etc. That and I felt like being a jerk today.
It just bothers me that because something is not commonly used in a very narrow form of motorsport, people would automatically disbelieve it would work at all.
