Dead Battery

So I was shopping at Costco for about 1.5 hours, came out to parking lot to find I had left headlights on and could not start. No crank no nothing. I said shit, WTF? So I popped the hood looked around and realized I needed a jump but of course no jumper cables, figures. So this real nice lady near me was packing her grocery and sees me realizes I needed a jump so she lends me her charger but to no avail. Then I flagged down this guy and we tried jumping from his battery but to no avail. I figured dead battery. Realizing I was at Costco I went inside and bought new battery for $40, replaced old one, crossed my fingers and, my car started, no problems. Took old battery in for $5 refund and thanked my lucky stars this didn't happen in middle of night in some backwater road. It was maybe a blessing in diguise that this happened in Costco's parking lot, LOL.

Re: Dead Battery

Glad to hear it all worked out for ya. I work on cars all day long & know my battery is at the end, struggles starting when very cold. I'll end up like you stuck with a dead battery. I might as well just replace the damn thing on monday because now that I think about it, my car can't be jump started if it fails somewhere that a jumper box is unavailable.

Yep, except now lost use of my radio don't have code. Luckily my Helm's manual ($64) came yesterday and showed how to take out to get serial number to get code from dealership. Dealer was gonna charge $80 bucks radio removal so right away Helm's manual payed for itself and then some. Will dealer charge to give code or is it free? Hoping it's free.

PS. was wondering if I should switch to Mobile high mileage syntec blend for next oil change? Or is Quacker state high mileage better? Prices are close. I got 106k mi. and counting.

Re: Dead Battery

Bring the car & removed radio to the dealers service drive, the code should be free & take a matter of minutes.

I would go with Mobil
