How do you guys order paints from them i want to get the kameleon paint for an Eclipse and S200 that i have and i dont now how to order it. also what do i tell them that i want. To better understand me what amount of paint do i order i dont know if you can buy in small amounts? and do you guys know what it might run me money wise?

Chubbs,
Look at nail polishes. My girlfriend bought me a bottle of her stuff and it comes out pretty good. It just doesn't cost an arm and a leg.

I know that nail polish doesnt cost an arm and a leg, but
i doubt that theres a Kameleon color in a nail polish but ill look at wally world (Wal-mart) to see there nail polish colors. another question ORANGE PEEL I havent been a modeler for a long time and i dont know what this term means but the only thing that i know is that its a bad thing. also i got some sand paper at me LHS its some testors sand paper that has only five grits 150, 280, 320, 400, & 600 do you guys think i should get higher grits for sanding? Example for Preping a car for a paint job. what grit should i use for that? another example: Im buliding a body kit what grit or grits should i use. Sorry for these questions i have been building model cars just by painting the body with no preping at all only washing the bodys to take off all the chemicals that it might have. But know i have learned the ways of a true modeler and i want to get a car as detailed as it could get.

Look at the surface of an orange. Smooth yet kind of bumpy and pitted. Right? Many things can cause it, but proper sanding and prep work prevents it as much as possible. I'm not much of a body kit modeller, but regardless, the grits you listed are too low, way too low. Maybe 600 should be the absolute minimum for sanding putty on a body mod. Here's my sequence (everybody has their own method but here's mine). I start sanding the body (before primer) with 1200-1800. Just a quick going over to make the primer grip. Then I primer the body, then sand with 2400 (I do this twice). (Wash it off under the sink w/ soap if necessary too- on any of the steps. Make sure all soap is gone too b/c that will cause havoc at times too!) Then I lay down the body color and clear coat (see the FAQ for any question on this). Once dry (this is key) start with 3200, then 3600, 4000, 6000, 8000, and finally 12000. Then polish and voila, a nice model finish. The most important part is to go slow and to use water. Using water keeps you from ruining your sandpaper, and gives you a good even finish. I hope this helps, but no matter what, you will screw something up and learn the hard way. That's the way everyone does it when they're learning this process. Don't get too pissed and be patient. Good luck

Alclad II has a variety of color-flipping paints. They aren't cheap either. $11 for 1oz of PRE-THINNED paints.

Yea, Chameleon paint is by far the most expensive auto paint. But what kind of paint are you looking for (Acrylic Urethane $$$, Acrylic Laquer, etc.)? Also, HoK is an expensive Top Of The line Company. When you use one HoK paint you need to use HoK all the way through with the same type of paint or it will flake off. If you need more details PM me, I paint Auto's/Choppers.

If you have to have chameleon, dupli-color makes a spray kit. Or if you want to use Auto Paint's for spray guns, get some PPG Acrylic Laquer. Watch out not to melt your plastic though.

If I might clarify here, Duplicolor Mirage is really not a chameleon paint, its a two color change making it a flip flop, Yes Chuubs real Chameleon is expensive but you get what you pay for
