Engine Stalling '93 Cavalier RS
Have a '93 Cavalier RS - 3.1 litre engine. 144,000 miles (240,000 km) Has always been running excellent until recently - engine has been stalling. Engine begins to sputter and sometimes misfire and then eventually stalls.
Local mechanic does a computer scan and says car needs tune up and replacement of coil pack. Starts off with tune up, but it does nothing to solve the problem. Should I waste my time and money replacing the coil pack? Would appreciate if anyone has any ideas or has experienced similar problems. Thanks. |

Re: Engine Stalling '93 Cavalier RS
My 91 was doing the same thing. It would start missing and would stall. It would start up and run fine for a few miles then start missing again. I replaced the control module and that fixed the problem.

Re: Engine Stalling '93 Cavalier RS
The tune-up is never a bad idea, but there is probably a code set in the comp.that should point you in the right direwction.
