Question Amp fuse

Will a 30a fuse be a problem if I use it instead of the 40a that came in the amp, it's a 350 watt amp... and I can't find the 40a in the smaller blade size, the 30a is the biggest I could find.

Re: Amp fuse

you can try it, but if it blows quickly, you need to either find a 40 amp mini fuse or replace the fuse holder with a different type.

Re: Amp fuse

I run a 30a fuse inline to my 400 watt amp... works fine, has'nt blown yet. As for AMP fuses you can run any standard car fuse.. I got ones that for $2 more will glow green when they blow.. same ratings, and same size..etc... I would imagine radioshack should have some of both... I know they carry 30a fuses... and any auto store will have the auto fuses...

Actually Radioshack didnt have them. I went to Pep Boys(they didnt have the mini 40as, but I'll try autozone I guess)... and had to go to the car fuse section because their audio amp fuses were all in line, and they said "that's all we have".. idiots; the blades are easier to me though, its not too big a deal unless you're blowing them constantly however. I blew my 30a the other day on the 4 guage battery cable, but the 40a on the Amp was fine. I stuck in another 30a on the battery cable and so far its been fine. It kept cutting out though, but I secured the ground( me) and its been fine. I'm gonna get a 1 farad capacitor from either probly lightning audio(preferably), or maybe MA Audio. Tha'll be nice. Thanks guys

If you're running 4 gauge power cable, you should be running at least a 50A fuse inline to it. AGU round stule fuse though, since blades don't come higher than 40A My 4 gauge Fosgate apm power kit I have came with a 50A inline fuse with it, so that's what I'm going by for that.

BTW, I have a Radio Shack catalog here, and you CAN get 40A blade type fuses, but they are special order which is why you weren't able to find them there in store. You might be able to order some from their website online.
