This is a common problem on the earlier Civics.

You are probably going to find that the wires that run between the dorr and fender have come apart or terminals inside the connectors have broken away. It is a little hard to describe here ... but I will try.

Open your door fully. You should see a metal bar running from the door to the body. This is called the door check (it prevents the door from opening fully and hitting the fender). Below that you should see the black rubber loom that houses the wires I am speaking about. Go to the end of it that is against the door itself. You should be able to peel it back and expose a connector. You may at this point find that it is already disconnected as most of the time that is what happens. If not ... you should have a tab on the edge that can be pressed to release it from its partner that is housed inside the door. Once apart ... you can look and see if you see any burnt marks or charring on the connector itself.

Next step is to remove the door panel and get the window into the UP position. You will have to get the connector out of the door to look at it so you can see if there is anything wrond with this end. Things to look for are burn marks ... terminals ends that are missing in the plug ... things like that.

We run acrioss this at work and have had some so bad that we actually had to do away with the connector and make our own to repair this issue. Unfortunately ... the only way to get this connector (male or female) is to get complete wire harnesses (unless you are lucky to find a good one in the junk yard).

Hopefully this will help you get them working again. This is a little hard to try to describe here but I have done my best to steer you in the right direction. Good luck getting them to work. MARK
