Get this checked by a qualified professional. You don't want to be checking anything yourself as air bags are very dangerous. Take it from me, I've had two deploy on me in minor crashes (in a ford mustang both times) and they caused injuries to my hands both times... Most of the time the bag is disabled when the light comes on. You should get any malfunction fixed.(as BMW air-bag systems are MUCH better than ford's!!!)
