Power

Whats a better idea for the price? Adding a Head and Cam package? or adding a supercharger to 98 T/A LS1? whats the benefits of each?

Re: Power

I'd do the head and cam package personally. Build the motor right the first time, and then use FI if you like...

Yes I would deff. agree. Even though those eights are rock solid...I would make sure the rest are able to handle the more pressure on those parts...Then at the FI, Then it would be terrifyng...

Re: Power

yah go with the heads and cam package because if you try and put FI on a stock motor it will not last very long. make sure your valve train and all that can handle the psi before adding FI and plus the heads/cam pack will give you around a 100hp boost if not more and once you supercharge that...watch out

Re: Power

I don't think there is much of an aftermarket for LS1 heads as of yet is there? Maybe a company or two? I'd say you'd be better off just getting the stock ones ported out and flow tested. Then get a custom grind cam to match your flow numbers.

The right cam makes all the difference in the world and if matched up with a nice set of ported heads could easily put a stock LS1 over the 400hp mark...

i totally agree with everything said... wait til later for the FI. you can get plenty of power from the head/cam package and that's all from engine work. get as much power out of the motor that you can FIRST before adding in other components. plus petereggy was right in that the head/cam pack will give you a huge boost... and i think it's actually upwards of 100hp closer to about 120-140hp... at least that's what it is for LT1's

Re: Power

FI means Forced Induction, i.e. a supercharger or turbocharger..
