Question 95 z28 automatic fuel mileage

What kind of mileage should I expect to get with a 95 z28, auto, 323 gears.

I am currently getting about 19.5 to 20 mpg if I really baby it, and who wants to baby a Z all the time.

All the ratings that I have read, say 19 city and 26 highway?

I had a 86 vette before and it consistently got between 22 and 23 mpg, same road and distance as I travel with the Z.

Thanks

Walter

Yeah that sounds about right...mid-high teens, to low-mid 20's all depend on how ya drive. But I 'would' average about 10 if I had the chance.

Re: 95 z28 automatic fuel mileage

I wish I could get low to mid 20's; all I get is 20 at best.

Thanks

Try better gas. And believe it or not but the gas station you use makes a difference. Like Exxon, and Mobile use oxigenated gas, which is better for your car anyway and give you another mile or two a gallon. Other company's dont and they cut their gas with soemthing to make it more abundant and less expensive. I also throw in the best gas from Moible, but that's where I live MD/PA.

well i know what you mean about babying it. The best i have gotten in my 94z a4 is 17. well that i calculated at least. I can never manage to go that slow im lucky when i can hit 14. It all just depends on what you would rather do. Go slow and not have as big of a hit at the pump or have a little fun. I have also noticed that gas makes a huge difference. 2 weeks after getting the car being stupid got the lowest grade gas without thinking about it. (used to my beater) it barely ran. the better the gas the better you will run and the better your gas mileage will be.

Who buys a camaro because of the gas mileage anyways? If you want good gas mileage, buy a honda.

Re: 95 z28 automatic fuel mileage

Excellent postst, I have tried gas from:
Mobile, Exxon, Chevron, Amoco, Hess, Citgo,...
You name it, all about the same.
I did not buy a Z28 because of fuel mileage, and if I wanted mileage I wouldn't buy a Honda either.
I used to own a Vette, and it got better mileage than what I get with the Z, so I was just wondering if there could be something wrong with my car, or if it is just the nature of the beast.

If you pay attention to your mileage, you can detect things going wrong with your car before they become major!!!

Thanks for the posts

Re: 95 z28 automatic fuel mileage

just because people talk about gas mileage doesnt mean thats what they care about. i couldnt care less it could get 5 and i would still drive it. but then again it doesnt hurt to talk about it every once in awhile. so dont post if all you have to say is buy a honda thats just stupid
